Give your dad something special

Tell your dad how much you love him and what he truly means to you by writing him a letter.

It is that time of year again where children have to buy their dads something special for Father’s Day.

Although you want to make this day memorable for your father, in most stores you will find the usual sad array of golf jokes, images of neckties, and cheesy poetry, along with a slew of cards proclaiming that your dad is the ‘Best Dad Ever’ over images of prize ribbons.

Instead of buying the umpteenth card for your dad, rather tell him how much you love him and how much you appreciate everything he does for you by writing him a letter.

Most of us have are not in the habit of letter-writing these days, but a personal letter from you will mean more to your father than any store-bought card or gift.

If you are new to letter-writing, start your letter by exploring some memories of your dad.

Things that he did over the years that meant a lot to you and changed you in even the most minuscule way.

Sharing those events or memories with him will mean the world to him.

If you let your dad know the difference he has made in your life, your letter can be something that he will keep forever.

Not all of us are amazing writers, but you are as good as you need to be.

Take the time and make your dad’s day event more special by using your own words and feelings rather than those of a card that you bought.

That one action of using your own words and memories to write a letter will speak louder than a million gifts and shop-bought cards.
