RCA hosts their first public speaking competition

Pupils from Randfontein Christian Academy show their communication skills during their first internal public speaking competition.

Randfontein Christian Academy (RCA) recently hosted their first internal public speaking competition and was amazed by the amount of talent their pupils possess.

According to the principal of RCA Retha Maré, 2014 is a year filled with firsts for this school.

Maré explains that nine of their pupils entered this competition and were judged by the likes of local author and public speakers Hanlie Thiel, Chrisna Grobler and Kobie Botha.

“The entrants had the opportunity to choose one of five topics.

“These topics were Blood, Laugh out Loud, Honey, Shoes and Fire,” says Maré.

“All of the entrants made amazing arguments during their speeches and the teachers were truly amazed by their talent as public speakers.”

Out of the nine entrants, three winners were announced on the day.

In first place was Courtney Fourie followed by René Labuschagne in second place.

Brandon Neethling took the overall third place.

“Our first public speaking competition was a staggering success and we will definitely host another public speaking competition in the near future,” says Maré.
