Townhall to receive face lift worth R10mil

This is expected to attract investors into Randfontein.

The Randfontein municipal building is set to receive a R10 million upgrade

This was proposed by DA leader within the West Rand Brian Blake who says that the venture will stimulate local economic development and will result in job opportunities for Randfontein residents and its surrounds.

It currently remains unclear as to when the project will get underway but it is expected to be during the 2014/2015 financial year.

“We proposed to the ANC-led municipality that R10 million be set aside for the refurbishment of the Town Hall and for once we agreed on something.

“Both parties share the same sentiments and we feel that the upgrade will benefit local residents and it will be something that they will be proud of,” says Blake

The Herald has spoken to Mayoral spokesperson Lucky Chiya who says that the council has welcomed this proposal.

“We have welcomed the DA’s suggestion where the upgrade is concerned and we do agree that this will be a fruitful venture.

‘It goes without saying that there will be more office space which will result in productivity within the municipality” says Chiya.
