Feeding hungry tummies across South Africa

Local group of samaritans strive to feed the hungry and make a difference all over South Africa.

Although Imbu Foundation is based in Randfontein, this group of people strive to make a difference all across South Africa.

That is why Imbu Foundation recently started the Hungry Tummy project.

According to the project manager, Charl Roestroff, Hungry Tummy is a project where they feed pupils from both local schools as well as schools in other towns.

“We recently discovered a school in Rustenburg where they have a dire need of a feeding scheme.

“We at Imbu Foundation immediately decided to launch a project in order to collect food, clothes and blankets for these children,” says Roestroff.

He adds that they have already identified various drop-off points in Randfontein in order to collect food that will be used to start this project.

According to Roestroff, there is a huge need in Randfontein and although they are working with the community to fulfill the needs of local charitable organisations, they will also use some of the food, blankets and clothing to help other towns as well.

“The school in Rustenburg which we identified, Sunrise View Primary, has around 150 pupils who are fed at the school on a daily basis, however these pupils also need a balanced diet at home and that is why we will make up food and clothing parcels for them to take home to their families,” says Roestroff.

Roetroff and his team wants to invite the community to become part of the Hungry Tummy project by donating non-perishable food, clothes and blankets.

These items can be dropped off at any of the participating organisations within the Randfontein area.

“The businesses and organisations that has been identified include Cartridge Cave, the Randfontein Gentlemen’s Club, Imbu Foundation as well as Salome’s Hair Studio,” says Roestroff.
