Wear your old tekkies for charity

Wear your old tekkies on 30 May and help raise funds for various NGO's in Randfontein and the rest of South Africa.

Tekkie Tax Day is celebrated on Friday, 30 May and the community of Randfontein is urged to buy a sticker and wear their old tekkies for charity.

Tekkie Tax 2013 exceeded all expectations by raising R2,4 million in their first year.

More than 180 welfare organisations benefited from the proceeds which were all distributed in November last year.

Two of these organisations are Randfontein based.

These organisations are Meals on Wheels Randfontein and NG Welfare.

According to a representative from NG Welfare in Randfontein, Louizanne Jacobs people can buy five different stickers, representing five different sectors of charity.

This year the Tekkie Tax team presents you with yet another opportunity to show where your heart lies on Friday, 30 May.Members of the community are asked to get a Tekkie Tax sticker for a R10 donation from any of the participating welfare organisations as well as participating schools and businesses in the area and support their charity sector.

These sectors include Animals, Basic Family Care, Children, Disability and Education.

“Seeing that NG Welfare is a Basic Family Care organisation, we urge the community to support our cause by buying the blue, basic family care, sticker. By doing this, their donations will have a direct impact on the Randfontein community,” says Louizanne.

On Tekkie Tax Day, you simply wear the big sticker on your lapel and put the small one on your cellphone to stay there for the rest of the year.

“Whatever your outfit is for the day, wear your old tekkies and be part of the success behind Tekkie Tax 2014. You can even spiff up your tekkies by getting a pair of their funky shoelaces called Tekkie Tags or buy a shirt for the cause,” says Louizanne.

For more information feel free to contact the NG Welfare offices during normal office hours on 011 412 1035.
