Local resident off to parliament

Jacque Julius from Toekomsrus has been elected to be a Member of Parliarment (MP).

Toekomsrus resident Jacque Julius has been elected to represent the DA as a Member of Parliament (MP).

Julius is a former ward councilor and former DA chief whip within the West Rand.

He is a teacher by profession and has been in politics since the age of 17.

According to him, he is thrilled to have been elected to represent the West Rand in parliament and says that he cannot wait to bring change to the area.

“I am very much aware of the big responsibility of having being elected as an MP.

“Now more than ever, I am content that I am prepared for this journey and I will make people proud,” says Julius

Asked on what change he will bring to the West Rand, Julius says that he wants to steer developmental projects towards the area.

“My goal is is to give back to the people of this region.

“By that I mean I want to bring about economic development and influence job creation.

“Education is also on the top of my list.

“I want to focus on that and also find ways of speeding up the implementation of existing projects,” says Julius.

He adds that his journey from being a random resident of Toekomsrus to where he is now should serve as a testament to the youth that you can become whatever you want to become if you put your mind to it.

“It really doesn’t matter where you come from.

“What matters is the vision you have.

“The youth needs to develop a culture of working hard and that will take them very far,” says Julius
