Chiya’s fraud case postponed, again

Chiya's identity fraud case was set to commence today but had to be postponed pending further investigations.

The commencement of mayoral spokesperson Lucky Chiya’s fraud case has once again been postponed for further investigation.

This despite previous reports that investigations into the case, which saw Chiya arrested during Decemebr, have been concluded.

This was announced on 13 May at the Randfontein Magistrates’ Court where Chiya made his sixth appearance following the controversial charges.

His case has been postponed to 9 June.

Chiya stands accused of having used a fraudulent ID document to secure credit.

At the time of his arrest, Chiya was reported to have been under sequestration.

A defiant Chiya refuses to comment on the case and has accused herald journalist Mbali Mathebula of harassment and threatened her with an interdict despite the fact that she, due to his continual refusal to comment, did not ask him for one.
