Bekkersdal — The body of a 33-year-old woman was found in a veld near the Cooke 3 mine in Bekkersdal with her throat slit.
According to acting Westonaria police spokesman Jabulani Kundethe, the police received information regarding a body that was found near Cooke 3 and upon arrival at the scene found the woman lying on her back.
Meanwhile, police officers from the Protea police station, who were working on a missing persons case heard about the body and decided to investigate.
Their investigation confirmed that the body was that of their missing person.
The woman was identified by her family at a local mortuary.
No arrests have yet been made but Kundethe has confirmed that a murder case has been opened at the Bekkersdal SAPS.
