RHS represents Randfontein in KZN

The school's netball and hockey teams came face to face with other teams from different schools across the country.

Randfontein High School’s netball and hockey teams recently have returned home after their successful training tour to the Sportweni Sports Academy in Port Shepstone in KwaZulu-Natal.

Leading national coaches and players from the University of the Free State presented courses in advanced skills for the different sporting codes.

The schools played against other schools from across the country including Merensky High School, Montana High School and Prestige College.

According to sports manager at the school Sunette Smith, not only did this empower the team, it also gave the team exposure that it wouldn’t have received otherwise.

“Our players excelled through the experience by playing against some of the country’s top achieving schools.

“This was also because the team was coached by some of the best coaches in the field and owing to this, we are confident that we will have a successful season.”

She adds that so far, the team has started yielding positive results and has won all their matches thus far since the beginning of the season.

“This really has been a rewarding experience in our sporting activities as well as in the development of the team and the team spirit.

“Our commitment to excel in all our sporting codes, cultural activities and academically is what really motivates us at RHS,” says Smith.
