Residents to host another anti-drug campaign

This is to strengthen their fight against the use of drugs and other illegal substances in the area.

Parents Against Drug Abuse (Pada) in Toekomsrus will host another anti-drug awareness campaign at the Toekomsrus Community Hall on 17 May.

This is to strengthen their fight against the drug trade in the area.

The event is scheduled to start at 10am.

According to one of the organisers of the eventwho wishes not to be named for fear of retribution from local drug dealers, this is one of their many events aimed at eradicating destructive elements within their society and educating the youth about the dangers of using drugs.

“We have had a serious problem with the drug trade in our communities and over the months we decided enough is enough.

“We have embarked on numerous campaigns to nip the drug problem in the bud.

“Although the drug problem isn’t as rife as before, it goes without saying that it is still a problem and we are determined to deal with it.

“What we want as a community of concerned parents is to take back our streets from the drug dealers and have our children quit drugs and this will be done through our campaigns.

“At no point will we feel that we have done enough.”

On the day Pada will host motivational speakers and have other forms of entertainment as well.

They also will have food stalls at the event.
