Municipal worker discovers dumped foetus

It is believed that thevfoetus was initially dumped at a local dumping site.

An approximately 5-month-old foetus was found dumped near the Toekomsrus municipal offices on 29 April.

This after local residents and municipal workers spotted a stray dog dragging around something and decided to investigate.

The foetus was wrapped in plastic and covered in cloth.

According to municipal worker and eyewitness at the scene Jafta Monthoto, he discovered the baby at approximately 7.30am when he reported for work.

“I had just arrived at work when I saw the stray dog dragging a yellow refuse bag towards the building.

“The plastic was already torn and I could not believe my eyes when I saw a baby’s head popping out,” says Monthoto.

He adds that he immediately contacted the police who then responded to the scene.

The Herald has spoken to the Krugersdorp Cluster spokesperson Warrant Officer Hitler Ngwenya who confirmed the incident and says that a case of concealment of birth has been opened.
