Celebrate Hospice week and make a difference

Hospice is a non-profitable organisation that cares for people with life threatening diseases.

Hospice West Rand is a non-profit organisation that cares for people with life threatening diseases at no cost to the patient.

Therefore this organisation needs all the help they can get.

The Randfontein community can contribute towards Hospice’s success by donating goods to their charity shop, situated on Main Reef Road in Randfontein.

Alternatively, the community can visit the shop and buy any of the interesting odds and ends on sale.

According to the shop manager at the Hospice Charity Shop, Monica Faure, there are many misconceptions that people hold about Hospice.

“Hospice provides palliative care work towards ensuring quality of life, dignity in death and support in bereavement,” says Monica.

“Many people still do not know that Hospice delivers these services free of charge to anyone living with a life-threatening disease,” says Monica.

Hospice does not only provide care for the elderly, but is available to people of all ages.

In fact, six per cent of those who need palliative care are children.

This year, Hospice week will occur from 4 May until 11 May.

“Therefore we urge the community to be part of our success during Hospice Week by visiting our shop and donating goods.

“Your help will go a long way,” says Monica.
