Dangerous rapist on the loose

Two of the suspects have been arrested, but one remains on the loose. Police have since launched a manhunt for the suspect.

Two suspects have been arrested and a third one is currently on the loose after they raped a 22-year-woman and ransacked her home in Mohlakeng on 16 April at approximately 12.10am

According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst the woman was sleeping when three suspects entered her home.

“One of them was armed with a firearm and another produced a knife.

“He pressed the knife against her throat while the third suspect ransacked her house,” says Ernst.

She adds that the suspects then forced the woman out of her home at gun point and dragged her to a nearby hostel.

There, they took turns raping her before fleeing on foot.

“Considering the nature of the incident, we are relieved that the girl is alive,” says Ernst.

Police officers managed to arrest one of the suspects later that same day, and another suspect was tracked down and arrested the following day.

One of the suspects remain on the loose.

“We have since launched a manhunt for the third suspect,” says Ernst.

She adds that anyone who might have witnessed the incident or has any information about the incident or the whereabouts of the third suspect, is urged to contact the investigating officer, Warrant Officer Bongani Mpete on 011 278 8130.
