Pedestrians robbed

They pretended to have trouble understanding the directions and asked the victim if he would accompany them to the taxi rank.

A local man was robbed while walking along Main Reef Road in the Randfontein CBD on 9 April.

According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst, the 26-year-old man was, who was walking with a group of friends at the time, was approached by two suspects in a vehicle.

“The suspects asked for directions to the Randfontein Taxi Rank,” says Ernst.

“They pretended to have trouble understanding the directions and asked the victim if he would accompany them to the taxi rank.

“The victim consented and as he got into the car, the second suspect produced a firearm and pointed it at him.”

Ernst says that the suspects managed to steal a bag that the victim was carrying as well as some clothing items befor forcing the victim out of the vehicle and speeding off.
