Local teacher wins prestigious award

One of Randfontein High School's finest teachers, Rametsi Senoamadi, wins a prestigious national teacher's award

After winning the provincial Advance in Technology Teaching and Learning Award, one of Randfontein High School’s finest teachers, Rametsi Senoamadi, recently took first place in the national round of this prestigious competition.

According to Rametsi, this award is given to one worthy teacher who uses technology to improve their pupils’ learning abilities.

“In order to win this prestigious award, one must present a panel of judges with your way of using technology to equip your pupils better,” says Rametsi.

He explains that RHS had to nominate one teacher to compete at the district level of this competition.

“My fellow teachers at RHS decided to nominate me to take part in this competition. I had to compete against five other teachers from the D2 District,” says Rametsi.

With his great presentation and the way he implements technology to enrich his pupils, Rametsi stood out above the competition and won the D2 District competition and advanced to provincial level where he had to compete against seven other teachers in the province.

“Once again, I gave it my all during the presentation and once again, my teaching methods were better than the rest’s,” says Rametsi.

With the provincial award in the bank, Rametsi had his eyes set on winning the national award.

This round of the competition took place at the Birchwood Hotel in Boksburg on 6 March.

“There I had to compete against eight other teachers from across South Africa and again made my mark and took first place,” says Rametsi.

“I am extremely proud to be presented with this award. It is a great honour and I want to thank each and every pupil and teacher at RHS for supporting me during this competition.”

Rametsi also won a computer lab for Randfontein High School to the value of R200 000, which was sponsored by Telkom.
