TB awareness campaign a success

Health workers also touched on other issues such as sexual intercourse and how to practice safe sex.

A Tuberculosis (TB) awareness campaign was held at the Jabulani Library in Mohlakeng on 26 March to commemorate World TB Month.

According to librarian Olivia Lebogo, health promoters, nurses and HIV and Aids counsellors from Randgate clinic were invited to teach attendants about the TB virus and ways to treat it.

“We have come to realize that despite the much publicized media campaigns in the media, there are still people who are not fully aware of what TB is and how serious it is.

“Owing to this, we wanted to teach people about the symptoms and the treatment thereof and its relationship with the HIV and Aids pandemic,” says Lebogo.

Health workers also touched on other issues such as sexual intercourse and how to practice safe sex.

Attendants were then tested for TB and HIV and were given educational pamphlets as well.
