Pensioner robbed in his home

The suspects fled off with a substantial amount of money from the pensioners house.

A 74-year-old pensioner became the latest victim of house robbery after he was tied up by two suspects who attacked him at his home and managed to make off with a substantial amount of money.

According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst, the man runs a business from his Mohlakeng house and was approached by the man who pretended to be enquiring about prices.

“The man was conversing with one of the suspects when two other suspects suddenly emerged at the door.

“One of them was armed with a firearm while the other one had a knife in his possession,” says Ernst.

She adds that the suspects forced the man into his bedroom, tied him up, taped his mouth shut and demanded that he showed them where he kept his money.

Fearing for his life, the man succumbed to their demands.

According to Ernst, the man did not sustain any injuries and was able to untie himself and call for help.
