Gang violence has erupted in Westonaria and the community of the Spooktown informal settlement near Westonaria is living in fear after Paulos Magaringa (22) was stoned and stabbed to death and later set alight.
His eyes were also gauged out.
The incident occurred on 14 March and according to reports, Magaringa allegedly was part of the Creatures gang.
The attack was apparently carried out by members of the rival Calabash gang.
The Herald has spoken with provincial police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Lungelo Dlamini, who confirms the incident and says that they have received the names of possible suspects, however, they have not made any arrests as yet.
“People have come forward with the names of the suspects and we are working on the case,” says Dlamini.
The community of Spooktown allegedly is caught in the middle of the apparent gang uprising.
