Elderly man attacked at home

The suspects held the victim's daughter at gunpoint and forced her to open the safe.

A 58-year-old Brandvlei man was attacked in his house by three men during a house robbery on 16 March.

The victim allegedly had gone outside at approximately 8am to check on a problem with the water supply to his house when the three suspects approached him.

Two of the men allegedly were armed with firearms, which the pointed at him, before forcing him back into the house and tying him up.

The suspects demanded cash and access to the safe.

The suspects eventually fetched the victim’s daughter from her bedroom and also tied her up before forcing her to open the safe.

They removed the valuables from the safe before fleeing from the scene.

The items which were taken include numerous pieces of jewellery, foreign currency and firearms.

According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson, Captain Appel Ernst, no-one was seriously injured during the ordeal.

“The victim was manhandled, but no shots were fired and the injuries are not life threatening,” says Ernst.

The investigating officer, Warrant Officer Thabiso Duiker would appreciate any information that might assist him in his investigation of the incident.
