Johnny Meyer killers arrested

The Randfontein SAPS has managed to arrest two of Johnny Meyer's murderers.

Two men believed to have been involved in the brutal murder of Helikon Park man Johnny Meyer have been arrested
Meyer was gunned down in his driveway on 13 August last year.

He was shot in the head by one of the suspects who allegedly followed him home after he and his wife had withdrawn a large amount of money at a local bank.

At the time of the incident, Meyer who was in the passenger seat, got out of the vehicle at the gate to retrieve a copy of the Randfontein/ Westonaria Herald in the postbox while his wife parked the car in the yard.

He was then confronted by a suspect who shot him in the head.

Meyer was laid to rest on 20 August at the NG Kerk in Helikon Park where his funeral was packed to capacity and attended by more than 1000 people.

According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson Captain Appel Ersnt, the investigating team under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel Gert Krugeer made the breakthrough arrests after months of intense investigations into the case.

“I cannot reveal much information at this stage but I can confirm that two suspects have been arrested since the incident.

“One of them was arrested on 24 February after being positively linked to the case and the second suspect was arrested on 6 March after further investigations,” says Ernst.
