Changes to the State of Town Address

This is to allow for more people to attend the event.

The Randfontein Local Municipality has announced minor changes to the State Of the Town Address scheduled to take place on 18 March and says that the event will now be held at the Mohlakeng Stadium and no longer at the Ramosa Hall but will still be for 2pm.

According to municipal spokesperson Lucky Chiya, this is to allow for bigger crowds to attend the event without causing a stampede.

During this time, the Randfontein Local Municpality Executive Mayor Sylvia Thebenare is expected to address issues of basic service delivery, infrastructure development, municipal transformation and municipal viability.

She will also be highlighting other issues including the provision of water and sanitation within households and the provision of electricity to all households built on officially surveyed sites.

“We decided to go with a bigger venue in order to alleminate any restrictions in terms of how many people can attend the event and we apologize for any inconvenience caused.

“The decision to change the venue is that we have not anticipated what the attendance will be like however now that we are celebrating 20 years of democracy, we do expect people to flock to the event in their numbers,” says Chiya.

He adds that this will allow residents with the opportunity to listen in on the challenges faced and transformation of Randfontein among other things.
