Randfontein to host State Of the Municipality Address

The Randfontein Executive Mayor will be reflecting back on achievements in Randfontein since the inception of democracy.

The Randfontein Local Municipality will be hosting Executive Mayor Sylvia Thebenare’s State of Town Address on 18 March at the Ramosa Hall in Mohlakeng.

During this time, Thebenare is expected to reflect on the challenges and progress in Randfontein since the inception of democracy 20 years ago.

According to municipal spokesperson Lucky Chiya, the mayor will be addressing issues of basic service delivery, infrastructure development, municipal transformation and municipal viability among other issues.

“We have come far as a nation and I am proud to say that we have achieved a lot since attaining freedom.

“We will be reflecting back on the things achieved and while we have acheived a lot since the dawn of democracy, it goes without saying that a lot still needs to be done for our people and we are more than prepared,” says Chiya.

He adds that the mayor will also be highlighting other issues including the provision of water and sanitation within households and the provision of electricity to all households built on officially surveyed sites.

She will also be talking about the municipality’s achievements in attaining close to 100 per cent grading in line with the national drinking water standards.
