Woman and two children in house robbery drama

The woman woke up to find two suspects in her bedroom. One was armed with a crowbar while the other was carrying a hammer.

A woman and her two children were attacked and their house ransacked during a house robbery at their home in Vleikop on 27 February at 4.10 am.

According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst, the woman and her two children aged 6 and 9-years-old were sleeping at the time and were woken up by noises in their smallholding flatlet.

“The noises turned out to be two suspects forcing the door open to gain access to the room,” says Ernst.

“One of them was armed with a crowbar while the other one had a hammer in his possession.”

She adds that one of the suspects then produced a knife and demanded money and other items from the woman.

The men ransacked the house before fleeing on foot.

They managed to get away with an undisclosed amount of cash, as wll as the woman’s cellular phone.

“Fortunately no one was harmed during the ordeal and the children slept through the entire robbery,” says Ernst.

According to her, the suspects are still at large and Warrant Officer Santie le Roux would appreciate any information that might assist her in the investigation
