Be part of the West Rand Fun Fest

A group of youth from the Greater Randfontein encourages the community to be part of the West Rand Fun Fest and help a struggling local charity.

A group of youngsters from Randfontein decided to host a talent exhibition in aid of local a charity organisation who was greatly affected by the hail storms late last year.

According to one of the organisers of this initiative, Xolani Vilakati, the charity organisation who will benefit from this talent exhibition is based on the outskirts of Randfontein.

“It is a home for many children who has nowhere to go and made this their home. They plant their own vegatables and lives in a small community based environment, but due to the hail storms, their home was badly damaged and we want to help them repair the damages,” says Xolani.

The talent Exhibition will be known as the West Rand Fun Fest.

He adds that the festival will mainly focus on people on the West Rand and the talents they have to offer.

“We will be hosting various auditions in the greater Randfontein and Westonaria as well as Krugersdorp and Kagiso,” says Xolani.

“The auditions will focus on dancing – such as hip-hop, house dancing and pansola dance, singing and rapping as well as an auditions to enter the beauty pageant.”

Singers, rappers, dancers and models can audition and stand a chance to be part of the final judging that will take place at the festival during April at the Greenhills stadium.

Although the festival will only take place during April, the auditions are set to kick off on 22 February and will continue until 2 March.

“Those interested can visit our Facebook page, Royalstudios RS, for more information on the times and dates of auditions at the pre-scheduled venues. There will be weekly updates posted on this page,” says Xolani.

“We will also have a roadshow at various schools to promote this huge charity event.”
