Public safety to host awareness campaign

This will be to educate the community of Randfontein on issues of public safety.

The Department of Public Safety within the West Rand District Municipality will be hosting an awareness campaign at the Greenhills Stadium on 28 March.

This will be in conjunction with other stakeholders and the event is expected to address issues of public safety and safety in general among children from the age of 6-years-old and above.

The event is scheduled to start at 9am and will run till 2pm

According to Public Safety Regional Commander Benny Mohlabeng, the Department is thrilled to be hosting the event and hopes that they will have an amazing turn out.

“We call upon everyone in the Randfontein and its surrounds to attend this event

“During this time, we will be engaging with everyone present on how to act when caught up in emergency circumstances as well as who to call and we will also be distributing relevant contact details to that effect.

“We will also be teaching them basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and how to escape fire and cope in other life threatening situations they may come across,” says Mohlabeng.

He adds that owing to this, the Department pleads to parents and guardians alike to allow their children to attend the event.

In preparation for the event, the Department has also announced that they will be hosting other events leading up to the awareness campaign.

These events will be communicated in the media
