W’aria municipality to clean up its town

This is to restore the image of Westonaria and its townships to what it was.

The Westonaria Local Municipality has embarked on yet another clean-up campaign in the streets of Westonaria and its surrounding townships.

This was on 3 Fabruary where municipal workers took to the streets and cleaned up dumping sites as well as filthy streets.

According to Municipal spokesperson Kgabane Madiehe, this forms part of the Westonaria Local Municipality Executive Mayor Nonkoliso Tundzi’s initiative of restoring the good image of Westonaria and its townships as a whole.

“We are happy to have kickstarted this clean up campaign and we are certain that it will become a success.

“Already we have made progress at the illegal dumping sites and other areas that were in dire need of being cleaned up.

“We will be moving to other areas throughout the campaign as we live up to our mandate,” says Madiehe.

He adds that the campaign will not be a once-off initiative and says that residents can expect their areas to be constantly clean.

“Our rubbish collectors and other municipal workers responsible for the upkeep of our environment will be keeping to their rosters.

“We will be reinforcing our strategy of keeping this town clean and we will also be allocating extra rubbish bins where necessary,” says Madiehe.

He adds that they will also be educating people on the importance of recycling and of living in a clean environment and keeping it that way.
