Municipality announces pothole repair schedule

Previously, the potholes in Randfontein were filled with red sand instead of tar.

Residents and motorists of Randfontein and its surrounds can now have a sigh of relief as repairs to potholes and the roads of Randfontein is in full swing and currently underway.

This was announced by Randfontein Local Municipality spokesperson Lucky Chiya who says that some roads have been repaired already and this time, it is with tar and not red sand.

“The municipality has noted with concern the challenges faced by different communities with regards to the issues of potholes and the state of our roads in general.

“Owing to this, drastic steps have been undertaken to deal with this problem and an intensive programme aimed at repairing our roads has been put in place and has already commenced,” says Chiya.

He adds that they have appointed a service provider to assist the municipality with the repair of potholes and says that the municipality is committed to ensuring that the state of the roads are restored to a level that is acceptable to ratepayers.

The municipality has sinced released a schedule for the repairs of roads throughout town and says that if the weather is favourable in the next few weeks, they shoud be done with the repairs by the end of April.

Below is a list of the wards where the repairs are set to take place and the dates on which this will happen:

• Ward 5 and 6: 5 February to 9 February.

• R559/ Ventersdorp/ Carletonville Road: 10 February to 16 February.

• Ward 16 and 13: 17 February to 23 February.

• Ward 8 and 10: 24 February to 1 March.

• Ward 19: 2 March to 9 March.

• Ward 11 and 15: 10 March to 16 March.

• Ward 12 and 17: 17 March to 23 March.

• Ward 18 and 22: 24 March to 30 March.

• Ward 9 and 14: 31 March to 6 April.

• Ward 2 and 3: 7 April to 13 April.

• Ward 7: 14 April to 20 April.

• Ward 4 and 6: 21 April to 27 April.
