Heals for Healing project helps local charity

The Heals for Healing project still boasts with great success and continues to help organisations such as Blind SA.

During July last year a journey of long hours escalating into a seemingly never ending project was launched in Westonaria Main Library:

However, the Heels for Healing project still boasts with great success.

One of the people who visited the exhibition and who is also one of the major sponsors towards the Ons Spens / Our Pantry Coffee Club, was local businesswoman and philanthropist, Nadia Du Preez.

Nadia decided to buy and donate the Sarah Theron Shoe to Blind SA, who in turn will auction it off.

“I decided to do this in recognition of the wonderful job Blind SA is doing to help the visually impaired all over our country and the daily challenges they face in order to lead fulfilling and active lives,” says Nadia.

She also deemed it a great pleasure to have met Blind SA’s national president Cathy Donaldson who is also no stranger at Westonaria Library.

Nadia expressed her thanks to the Westonaria Library staff for facilitating this process and for Cathy to take time out of her busy schedule in order to accept the donation in person.

Cathy says she is very grateful to Nadia for taking this initiative as the donation will be of great assistance to Blind SA and those we strive to serve.

National Coordinator of the project, Cecile Walters, said that this was a most interesting turn of events with the proceeds of Sarah’s shoe still going towards children.

“I cannot believe that a project which began so small had such a ripple effect.

“Because I am a teacher myself I hold children very close to my heart and it is incredible to think that one shoe will end up touching so many lives and impacting on so many children,” says Cecile.

She wishes to thank the Westonaria Library for helping to create bigger awareness of the project and finding owners for the art pieces.

She also thanks Sarah Theron for supporting the project.
