Two men have been caught and arrested after Randfontein police found them in possession of Nyaope .

This was on 5 February on Ralerata Street in Mohlakeng.

According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst, police officers received information that two men were dealing in drugs on Ralerata Street.

“We acted on the information and upon arrival at the place, police officers searched their property.

“They discovered Nyaope worth approximately R1 000 and immediately confiscated it,” says Ersnt.

She adds that the suspects have since been arrested and will be appearing at the Randfontein Magistrates’ Court on 7 February.

Nayope, also known as woonga, is famous for reports that it contains anti-retroviral drugs issued to HIV and Aids patients.

It is so addictive that there have been reports of nayope addicts trying to get infected with HIV as anti-retroviral medications are issued to sufferers for free by the government.

The main ingredient of nayope is heroin, wich is mixed with other, unknown substances which increases the mass of the drug, making it cheaper and more profitable for dealers to sell.
