Gang caught for Greenhills murder

Greenhills resident Craig Bailey was found dead in his bathroom with both his hands and feet tied.

Police have managed to arrest four suspects positively linked to the house robbery and murder of Greenhiils resident Craig Bailey (32) in August last year.

Bailey was found in his house with both his hands and feet tied and evidence of a struggle.

The suspects were arrested in Slovoville near Roodepoort.

According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst, Investigating officer Warrant Officer Santie le Roux together with her Lieutenant Colonel Gert Kruger and three other officers made the successful arrest after working night and day on the case.

“Our officers received information with regards to the suspects through the help of reliable informers.

“They followed up on the information and upon arrival at the place, four men were caught and arrested for the murder of Bailey.

However, only one of them was positively linked to the incident and the rest were released,” says Ernst.

Property worth approximately R25 000 was found during this time.

She adds that police officers continued with their manhunt and shortly thereafter arrested three other suspects aged 25, 29 and 31-years-old which they managed to link to the murder.

They were charged with murder and house robbery and appeared at the Randfontein Magistrates’ Court on 30 January where their case was remanded.

The first suspect has since been transferred to the Roodepoort SAPS where he was later charged for being in possession of stolen property.
