Local resident tricked by house robbers

The suspects approached the man pretending to be in need of a glass of water and a bathroom. They later produced a firearm and ransacked his home.

A 22-year-old man was robbed in his house by two suspects pretending to want some water.

Information received indicates that the victim had just arrived home when he was approached by an unknown man pretending to be looking for someone.

While still conversing with the man, another man emerged and asked for a glass of water.

According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst, both suspects made use of the victim’s facilities then one of them produced a firearm and ordered the 22-year-old lie on the ground.

“Fearing for his life, the victim succumbed to the orders and was tied up.

“The suspects covered his head with a cloth and ransacked the house, taking electronic equipment,” says Ernst.

She adds that the suspects fled from the scene in a getaway vehicle.

“No shots were fired during the robbery and the victim did not sustain any injuries.

“We are looking for the suspects and we hope that a breakthrough arrest will be made soon.
