SAPS records successful arrests

We are happy with the figures and we will definitely be intensifying our fight against crime.

The Randfontein police have recorded alarming statistics of arrests made over a period of three days and says that this is testament that while criminals are out and about, police officers are doing their bit in curbing crime.

A total of ten people were arrested on a count of assault with the intent to do grevious bodily harm while three people were caught in possesion of dagga.

This was between 3 and 5 February.

One person was arrested for rape and two others for murder during this time.

According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst, these are but a few of the crimes recorded and should be seen as an indication of their zero tolerance towards crime and high visibility in local communities.

“This shows the hard work that police officers are putting into curbing crime.

“We are happy with the figures and we will definately be intensifying our fight against crime,” says Ernst.

She adds that the police tip-offs where crime is concerned and believes that more criminals will be arrested if community members join hands with the police.

“It goes without saying that two brains are better than one and the same principle applies when it comes to rooting out criminal elements in our communities.

“We need people to report suspicious activities in their communities in order for them to be investigated,” says Ernst.
