It is all systems go for Carryou Ministry, as they gear up to face the challenges of 2014 and one of the first items on the agenda was a meeting with a number of successful matriculants from the class of 2013.
The youngsters, hailing from various settlements around Randfontein, met at Carryou’s office, where General Manager Reverend Lawrence Mabaso and other members of the team congratulated them on their recent school achievements.
“It is a great achievement to pass the Basic Educational Matric Certificate in difficult and trying times,” Lawrence told the youngsters.
“We acknowledge this first educational milestone in your journey towards entering the workplace or tertiary education.”
The meeting was the first step in a programme set up to offer encouragement and support to the school-leavers and to help them start on the path to the careers they desire.
“Our doors are open and we will provide whatever support we can,” says Lawrence.
This includes mentoring and coaching and the opportunity to make use of Carryou’s facilities to help the matriculants further their education.
For example, Carryou opened their doors to school-leavers to use the internet for assignments, assistance in making online applications, help in finding and applying for study bursaries, help in finding basic employment, helping to facilitate assistance to improve exam-result symbols and creating a network of positive friendship through social media.
“In addition, we will provide character references for the young people, when needed, so long as they keep us informed about what is happening in their lives,” says Lawrence.
“We may also be able to provide work that comes with a stipend, when available and will offer continuous counselling and support in areas of character-building and career development.”
