Two men arrested for murder

Currently, it remains unclear as to what the motive behind the stabbing is but an investigation is currently underway.

Two men aged 18 and 20-years-old were arrested after they were caught carrying the body of an unknown man who was badly stabbed and later died.

This was on 25 December on Merwe Road in Elandsvlei.

According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst, initially police officers were patrolling the area when they spotted the  suspects carrying what seemed like the body of a man and decided to investigate.

“Upon questioning, one of the officers discovered that the man that the suspects had been carrying had been stabbed and was bleeding.

“An ambulance was immediately called out for him but he was later declared dead,” says Ernst.

She adds that further questioning at the scene led to both suspects accusing each other for the man’s injuries which led to his death.

Subsequently, they were both arrested.

“Since their arrest, the suspects have appeared at the Randfontein Magistrates’ Court on 27 December and their case was postpone.

“Currently, it remains unclear as to what the motive behind the stabbing is but an investigation is  underway.

“Owing to this, we urge anyone who might have witnessed the incident or have any information that might assist in the case to contact Investigating Officer Santie le Roux on 011 278-8130,” says Ernst.
