Woman stabs boyfriend to death

Domestic violence does not need to end in this way, especially where lives are lost.

A 38-year-old man was stabbed to death by his girlfriend during a love dispute on 14 December at the Loumarina plots in Randfontein.

According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst, it is currently unclear as to what led to the incident but eyewitnesses at the scene said that the two had a lover’s spat earlier on.

“It is understood that the victim and his girlfriend had a domestic dispute prior to the stabbing.

‘Things turned violent and the man was stabbed once on his upper body.

“He tried running away after the incident but collapsed shortly after,” says Ernst.

She adds that police officers were called out to the scene and upon arrival, the girlfriend cooperated and was immediately arrested.

Shortly after this, she suddenly fell ill and was rushed to a nearby hospital.

There, it was established that she had drank a poisonous substance and was declared dead just hours later.

“Domestic violence does not need to end this way, especially where lives are lost.

“People need to understand that if reported to the authorities, such things can be dealt with before they even get out of hand,” says Ernst.

She adds that the investigating officer into the scene, Warant Officer Pappas Mhlongo can be contacted on 011 278 8100 for further information.
