Potholes reapperaring again

We are not limited by the weather in carrying out our duties and if anything, our roads will be repaired once again.

The condition of the roads in Randfontein is deteriorating once again after months of hard work spent on repairs by the Randfontein Local Municipality.

This comes after the heavy rains that Randfontein has experienced over recent weeks.

The has been inundated with phonecalls from local motorists complaining about the state of roads.

The Herald has recently carried articles in which the Randfontein Local Municipality was praised for their efforts in fixing potholes throughout town, but it seems that, once again, the repairs done are not on par.

The moment that it rains, most of those potholes re-appear bigger and more dangerous than they were before.

According to Randfontein Local Municipality spokesperson Lucky Chiya, the reappearing of potholes in Randfontein is a setback for the municipality especially when so many potholes had been repaired already.

“Rain is natural and unfortunately we have no control over it.

“However, over the months we have been fixing potholes throughout Randfontein and we will continue doing so despite bad weather conditions.

“We are not limited by the weather in carrying out our duties and if anything, our roads will be repaired once again,” says Chiya.

He urges that residents and motorists alike have understanding of the situation at hand and know that the council is doing its best in restoring the roads in Randfontein.
