Another murderer behind bars

We are glad that the suspect was found guilty and sentenced to eight years imprisonment.

The Randfontein SAPS has secured yet another successful conviction of a 26-year-old man who was found guilty on a charge of murder at the Randfontein Magistrates Court on 2 December.

Sheldon Lodewich was found guilty of stabbing a 22-year-old man to death on 20 December 2009 on Venus Street in Toekomsrus.

Subsequently, a harsh jail term of eight years imprisonment was handed down to him after intense investigation by Randfontein detective Karen Nel.

According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst, the case was heard on numerous occasions at the court prior to the conviction.

“We are glad that the suspect was found guilty and sentenced to eight years imprisonment.

“This comes after four years of appearances at the court..

“The Randfontein management team congratulates Nel for her perseverance during the investigation and her diligence in ensuring that witnesses attended the court when necessary,” says Ernst.
