Elderly woman abducted and robbed

The woman was pushed inside a quantum taxi and driven to a veld along the R41.

A 60-year-old woman from Greenhills was robbed and almost raped by a group of at least three men on 5 December.

The woman says that she had withdrawn R30 000 from a local bank and that she had just finished paying for building materials at a local hardware store when the incident occurred.

“I was walking toward Killarney Butchery in Main Road when I was grabbed and forced into a Toyota Quantum that was parked on the side of the road,” says the woman who wishes not to be named.

“They drove with me toward the R41 where they pulled over in a veld.

“It all happened so fast. l just remember praying to God that he protect me.”

The men robbed her of personal belongings including the remaining R15 000 in cash that she had on her.

She adds that during the incident, she overheard one of the suspects informing another one that they should ditch her in the veld and go back for her later.

They said she would be their ‘dinner’ that evening.

Fortunately, the woman managed to untie herself after they left and managed to hitch hike all the way to the Herald’s offices where she asked for help.

Luckily, other than scars caused by the ropes with which she was tied, she did not sustain any serious injuries.

Police have confirmed that a lookout has been posted for the vehicle in question.
