Foreigners caught with forged driver’s lisences

We will fight to make our roads safe for all users.

Five foreign nationals were arrested after being found with a set of fake driver’s licenses in Randfontein on 29 November.

This was during a routine law enforcement operation by Randontein traffic officers who closed in on the men after suspicions that the vehicle they were traveling in was unroadworhty.

Randfontein traffic Chief Kenny Mampondo says that traffic officers stopped the men and carried out a search of their vehicle.

They were found to be in possession of a number of forged driver’s licenses.

Upon inspection, Assistant Superintendent Silas Malakeng established that all drivers licenses in question had the same serial number.

According to Mampondo, being in possession of forged driver’s licenses is a serious offense.

“Thousands of people die on our roads each year.

“There are very good reasons why people have to undergo stringent tests before being allowed to drive a car.”
