Another pothole saga in Randfontein

The money that residents are billed by the government and the municipality must come into play in repairing these roads.

The Herald has received information about a massive pothole on Greenhills Avenue which has motorists at their wit’s end.

According to a resident who does not wish to be named, the pothole in question has been on the road for some time now and there seems to be no efforts from the municipality in repairing it.

“We constantly see municipal workers painting pavement barriers but never repairing potholes throughout town.

“They try to buy face with things that do not matter however they fail to attend to those issues that matter most such as the potholes that litter Randfontein.

“This is getting out of hand.

“We are made to drive on deteriorating roads despite the amounts that we cough up every month,” says the resident.

She adds that the money that they are constantly billed by the government and the municipality must come into play in repairing these roads and not on fruitless structural repairs and fancy council events.

Meanwhile, the Herald took to the pothole in question and found that it had been covered with sand and not tar.

While this may serve as a temporary solution, it surely does not take away the persisting problem.

The Herald can also reveal that this is just one of the many potholes that have residents and motorists up in arms.
