A truck was hijacked in Brandvlei on 30 October.

A truck was hijacked in Brandvlei on 30 October.

The incident occurred at approximately 9.30am after the 52-year-old truck driver pulled over to inspect a possible flat tyre.

According to the driver, the occupants of a vehicle parked on the side of the road indicated to him as he passed that one of the tyres was flat.

When he stopped and left the truck to investigate, the three occupants of the parked vehicle, a Volkswagen Polo, emerged from their car and apprehended him.

He was allegedly forced into the back of the Polo, where he was robbed of personal belongings.

The suspects held the driver captive and they dropped him off some time later at an open veld.

The suspects drove off in his truck.

According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson, Captain Appel Ernst, the truck has not yet been recovered.

No injuries were sustained and no shots were fired during the ordeal.
