Local man hijacked and stripped naked

Two heavily armed men forced him into his boot.

A 28-year-old Helikon Park man was hijacked outside his driveway and later ditched naked in a veld in Soweto on 6 October at approximately 5pm.

The man had just gotten home when he went out his car to open the first gate in the driveway.

He got back into his car and drove towards the second gate in the yard when a white Bantam bakkie pulled in behind him.

Two men, armed with rifles emerged from the bakkie and, at gunpoint, forced the man to take off his clothes.

Fearing for his life, the man succumbed to the orders before being forced into the boot of his car.

According to the man’s sister Sammy Patterson, the suspects drove around with her brother locked in the boot for approximately three hours.

“They stopped at an ATM and demanded that he hand over the pin code for his bank card.

“They withdrew R3 000 and immediately drove off again.

“They stopped at a veld in Soweto where they tied my brother’s hands and feet and ditched him there,” says Patterson.

She adds that fortunately her brother was not injured and managed to walk to a nearby house in the area to ask for help.

There, he contacted his family and was taken to the nearest police station.

“If anything, we are just glad that they spared his life.”

According to Patterson, her brother was too traumatised to speak to the press.
