Another hijacking in Randfontein

The victim was hijacked while sitting in his car.

A 26-year-old man was hijacked while sitting in his car, a white VW Polo, in Randgate on 25 October at approximately 7pm.

According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst, the man was approached by a suspect wearing reflective clothing.

“The suspect approached the man and produced a firearm

“He ordered him to lie on the ground and ensued to take the car keys from him.

“He instructed him not to move and immediately got inside the car and sped off,” says Ernst.

She adds that fortunately the man was not injured in the incident and that police have launched a manhunt for the suspect.

Ernst also urges anyone who might have witnessed the incident or might have information that might assist in the investigation to contact the Lenasia Vehicle Unit on 011 213 9000.
