Toekomsrus robbery leaves mom and son injured

The suspects held the woman's son hostage and started assaulting her.

A 28-year-old woman and her young son were attacked and left wounded during a house robbery at their home in Toekomsrus.

This was on 18 October at approximately 10:30 am when a known female friend knocked on the door, asking to visit them.

When the woman opened the door, the suspect together with and accomplice forced the door open and stormed inside the house.

According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst, the suspects held the woman’s son hostage and started assaulting the mother.

“It is alleged that the suspects started breaking the victim’s property and took numerous electronic equipment,” says Ernst.

The woman sustained serious injuries and her son sustained minor injuries during the attack,.

They both received medical attention and a case of assault was opened at the Randfontein police station.

Shortly after the incident, the suspects were caught and have appeared at the Randfontein Magistrates’ Court on 22 October where their case was remanded.
