Another Greenhills house robbery

Upon arrival at the gate, the suspects grabbed her and instructed her to keep quiet.

A 59-year-old domestic worker was attacked during a house robbery in Greenhills on 16 October at approximately 10am.

The woman was busy with her daily chores when she heard a car horn outside the gate and decided to investigate.

She saw two men wearing blue overalls and walked towards their direction.

According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst, the woman was under the impression that they were there to fix something.

“Upon arrival at the gate, the suspects grabbed her and instructed her to keep quiet.

“They then forced her into the house where they continued to threaten her prior to the robbery,” says Ernst.

Two more suspects emerged to assist in the robbery, bringing the total of the suspects to four ganging up on the woman.

“They ransacked the entire house and took valuable items before they fled in their getaway vehicle.

“Fortunately the woman did not sustain any injuries during the incident,”

According to Ernst, employers need to inform and educate their domestic workers about safety precautions when they are alone at home.
