Police confiscate illegal firearms

A man has been arrested on a Randfontein farm for being in possession of at least seven illegal firearms and ammunition.

A Randfontein man has been arrested for being in possession of at least seven illegal firearms, and what police describe as ‘a lot of’ ammunition.

According to Muldersdrift SAPS communications officer, Warrant Officer Hitler Ngwenya, the man was arrested during a joint operation by police officers from throughout the cluster.

“Police received a tip-off from an informant and investigated,” says Ngwenya.

“This led us to a farm in Randfontein, where a raid was carried out on 16 October between 9 and 10am, and the firearms were discovered.

Ngwenya says that the firearms include pistols and other firearms, but he would not divulge further information at this stage.
