Municipality hands over new cemetery

The Westonaria Local Municipality has handed officially launched a newly completed cemetery in Simunye.

Service delivery in Westonaria is evidently underway with the Westonaria Local Municipality handing over the Simunye cemetery to the residents of the area.

This was on 8 October and the cemetery in question is worth R11.8 million.

It comes equipped with internal roads, a parking area, an office and an ablution facilities.

According to Westonaria Local Municipality Executive Mayor Nonkoliso Tundzi, this is in line with making sure that residents are able to bury their loved ones without having to worry about burial space and the prices associated with it.

“Due to the high mortality rate, we thought it was imperative that the council provides more affordable space for residents to bury their loved ones.

“What this means is that, the price of R270 for a normal coffin burial space and R320 for casket space will remain and no longer be increased as previously announced,” says Tundzi.
