Pupil stabbed to death at local school

The suspect fled from the scene and is currently wanted by the police .

A 16-year-old boy was stabbed to death by a fellow pupil at the Kgothalang High School in Bekkersdal on 7 October.

It is suspected that a fight broke out between the two after the suspect threw an umbrella on the wall which ricocheted back and hit the victim.

According to Westonaria SAPS spokesperson Constable Thembi Masango, it is understood that an argument erupted shortly after this which led to the pupils pulling knives on each other.

“After multiple stab wounds, the 16-year-old succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead on the scene.

“The suspect fled from the scene and is currently wanted by the police.

“A murder docket has been opened,” says Masango.
