Satanic murder update: teen sentenced

Update: 11 October: The teenage girl from Lukhanyo Secondary School who admitted to killing her 14-year-old school mate has been sentenced to 8 years in juvenile prison today (11 October)

The judgement was handed down at the Palm Ridge High Court by judge Geraldine Borchers who said that, had the accused been 10-years-older, she would have given her a life sentence.

This verdict comes after the girl admitted to killing her school mate Keamogetswe Sefularo in a satanic ritual on 1 March this year.

Sefularo died a brutal death after being stabbed in the neck, stomach and chest and later succumbed to her injuries on the way to hospital

The girl told the court on 4 October  that Sefularo had to be slain because she knew the members of the satanic group and could very well exposed them.

In court, it was also revealed that the pupil had engaged in satanism for financial gain.

According to Borchers, the girl  believed that her spirit would be able to get into key holes and into banks where she would carry out the act of stealing money.

Two other pupils were present at the scene when the incident occurred.

According to the Gauteng Department of Education spokesperson Gershwin Chueenyane, the two accomplices have been dealt with as well.

“One of perpetrators is at the Walter Sisulu Juvenile Prison while the other one is at a place of safety,” says Chuenyane.

9 October: A 15-year-old girl from Lunkhanyo Secondary School in Mohlakeng has admitted to killing her 14-year-old school friend as part of a satanic ritual.

This was revealed on 4 October at the Palm Ridge High Court where the accused confessed in front of the court that she had killed her schoolmate, Keamogetswe Sefularo, in order to move up in the ranks in a satanic group which is said to be operating in Randfontein.

Initially, the matter made headlines in the Herald and national media where reports of an occult group operating in Randfontein went viral.

Sefularo died a brutal death after being stabbed in a veld just minutes away from her home on 1 March.

The Herald can reveal that two other pupils were present at the scene when the incident occurred.

According to the accused, the late Sefularo had to be slain because she knew the members of the group and could very well expose them.

She also said that Sefularo was aware that members of the group would visit cemeteries where they would cut themselves and drink each other’s blood in order to carry out their satanic rituals.

Meanwhile, the Gauteng MEC for Education reported that at the time of the incident, 10 other pupils were suspended from the school following the satanism saga.

She said that the suspended pupils were not necessarily connected to the murder of Sefularo but she did confirm that two of them were present during the the incident.

The Herald has forwarded a list of questions to the Gauteng MEC for Education spokesperson Gershwin Chuenyane who says that he will respond with feedback
