Good Samaritan robbed by ‘lost men’

While directing them, one of the suspects produced a firearm.

A 23-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint by two suspects pretending to be inquiring about directions near the Sir Albert Hospital on 25 September.

The man was walking near the hospital when the incident occurred.

He was then approached by the suspects who pretended to be lost and asked for directions to the Central Business District (CBD) in Randfontein.

According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst, while directing them, one of the suspects produced a firearm.

“They took his cellphone but fortunately no shots were fired,” says Ernst.

She adds that the police are on the lookout for the suspects and urge anyone who might have witnessed the incident to contact any of the Randfontein detectives on 011 278 8100.

“Any information that might assist in this investigation is welcome.

“People must also know that they can use this number to inform us about other incidents that have occurred that might us give a lead into investigations.”
